Introduction

You are a magazine reporter. Write a biography of a famous, positive person who contributed to society. It has to be a real person in the 20th century.

Instructions

 

When:  This project will take place over a period of 8 weeks. You will work in the computer lab a few times, but you will do most of the work at home.

        All the project drafts and Internet sources will be submitted by December 8, 2005.

The project will be submitted by February 20, 2006. The final grade will be included in the end-of-year grade.

       

How:  You will work individually and will keep a working file for all your drafts, materials, notes, etc.

 

What: You will hand in 5 parts:

 

1. A table of contents with numbered pages.

 

2. A cover letter on the following points:

    a.  Explain why you chose this person and what you have learned from him/her.
    b. Did you enjoy working on the project? Why?

    c. What new skills did you learn?
    d. What new words did you learn? 
    e. Which part of the project did you enjoy most: the
research, the writing?
    f.  Which part of the project was the most difficult 
for you? Why?
    g. Which part of the project was the easiest for y
ou? Why

   

3.     The biography. Make sure you include information about:
       a. The person's character, interests, skills and abilities.
       b. Relevant family and educational background.
       c. Life events and achievements.
       d. What influenced the person's life.
       e. What contribution he/she made to society.

                

4.     A working process file which will include:
        a. all the information collected from the Internet and any other sources.

        b. notes and drafts (checked by the teacher).

        c. ideas and plans
       

5.     A bibliography/ webliography: an alphabetical list of all the sources you used in your project.          

        Use at least 3 English sources. Write: 
        a.  the name of the site/page/publication.
        b.  the name of the article.
        c.  the exact Internet address of the article.
        d.  the author.
